And the first significant snow of the year fell last night..... how sad.
Hi everybody... I am Karen and married to my co-pilot Steve.... a.k.a. KarenInTheWoods and Steveio! Well, I drive the rig too, so I guess we are both pilots and co-pilots. I also navigate as he gets lost easily and hates the GPS.
We are due to hit the road full time in 4 years (hubby works for the State and has to wait till the retirement pension kicks in) so for now we are in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Tucked into our log cabin we built on a river, we raised four teens and now are emptynesters as the kids are all getting married and making their ways in the world. One has already blessed us with a grandchild a few months ago!!!
We are going to be young retirees, at ages of 52 and 54 and don't fit the stereotype of the typical Old Farts we see out and about. I know, I know, someday we will be.... But for now the polyester pants and hawaiian print shirts, and socks with sandals can wait.
I am a Fiber Artist and take my craft wherever I go. My fingers have always got to be BUSY and fibers are always within my reach whether I am spinning wool, knitting socks or weaving up something wonderful.
Hubby dear is a putzer and do-er and all around nutcase who is always fixing something, even if it isnt broke yet. If I don't keep him entertained he will line up the vegetable cans in the cupboard (in alphabetical order, mind you) and take all the cereal bags outs of the boxes, clip them with chip clips, to save space! So when RVing he needs ALL his tools along and will glady go help anyone with a problem on their rig or tow vehicle. So I think some RV FIX IT helper cards to pass out as we travel will help with a few $$$ in our pockets.
We have both RV's as children and over the years each of us has leapfrogged up the RV ladder from tents to popups to coverted school buses and beat up old Winnebagos.
We ADORE our 38 foot disel pusher, and are all set already to full time in it. If our house burnt down tomorrow (Heaven forbid) I would only want to save the family photos and my Grandma's cedar chest. So in the meantime I am scanning in all our photos to save on SD and soon will move the cedar chest to the daughter to which I am going to bequeath it anyhow.
Each time we leave to go on the road, we HATE coming home again. Also we do camp a bit in the winter, especially around the holidays we use our rig for extra sleeping spaces up at my dad's tiny cabin.
So that is about enough rambling on and on.... glad to be a part of the group and will go read some more of the interesting blogs.
Thanks for letting us know about this site, Kevin!
