Question for the group: currently, a person can drop by the site and browse pretty much everywhere with read-only access. I have the option to close areas to non-members. What are your thoughts on this?

Part of me thinks to just leave everything open so that people can first see if this site is somewhere they want to join. No sense in having a bunch of people join up just to find out we suck.

The other part thinks that we should keep most areas with access to members only. This way we can keep how much we suck to ourselves   We can do a little of both and allow access to some areas as read-only (like the classifieds), and allow only members to view other areas.

Thoughts? Input? Suggestions?

Hmmmm....

I think for now you should keep it open, even if there isn't a lot of content yet. If we suck, well, tough.

We rock anyway. I think we should show that aspect off!

Then later we can become snobs when the reputation is out....

BTW, I love your quote at the bottom.

Mine should be:

'The less I have the more I want'

or

'The more I gain, the more I want!'

or maybe even....

'the more I gain, the more I reign'.

I think the page should reflect us, the NUrver's - open and free, until we deem a need otherwise.

Oh man!! I was thinking more "uptight and closed-minded", but I guess we can go your way....

I agree with the other two, open and free.  If people want to join they will.

On another kinda related topic Kev, the little label's under our names that say "Standard" and "Staff"...  Well, I don't like beling labeled, not sure you can do anything about that but I think it detracts again from the "Spirt" of things.

Cool - it is gone. A "Shift+Reload" will clear it out if you still see it (stuck in cache), and will non-existant for Nu-bies.

Thanks for the suggestion!
