Hi!  I found this site on the Escapees forum and figured I'd join.  I'm currently shopping for a 5th wheel, which I hope to buy next summer.  I've been working for a staffing agency for the last couple of years, and I'm sick of packing up my stuff and my parrot every few months, plus I want to be able to actually travel in my time off without worrying about staying with relatives or hotel bills... so, here I am.  I'm currently borrowing a 26' trailer from my parents for the summer, which made me realize I did NOT want to full-time in the van camper I was planning to get - I need a better shower.  :-)

Most of my family thinks I'm crazy.  Ah well.  I've been dreaming of this since I was in grade school and wanted to be an author with a double decker bus, traveling the country and mailing in manuscripts.  I just have to remind myself that it's not my problem they don't understand.

Great story. We have a few people in here with much experience in the 5th wheel department. I have always gone down the motorhome path cause Angie would NEVER drive a big truck to the grocery store, and Buddha knows, I need my groceries :)

Again, welcome to the site. Post up if you are having difficulties with anything, or have any questions.

Groceries can be important.  Even the biggest bus is too small for a cow and a garden.  :-)

I had planned to get a class B (a sportsmobile) because I figured it would be easier to drive than towing a 5th wheel, but then a friend let me drive her truck and "made" me hook up her horse trailer (5th wheel) to it, drive it for about 1/2 an hour, then back it up a 200' curving driveway to park it back where she had it... it wasn't that hard!  Plus, with the vad I would have had to have my employer rent a car for me everytime I got to an assignment, and in between assignments I'd have to unhook every time I left camp... I loved the Sportsmobile, but this just makes more sense for me.
