One of my favorite things to find in new towns are farmers markets! I try to go to one every Saturday to pick up greens for the week, and also find that the people going to the markets are usually locals, and it is a great way to meet townies and find out what is going on in town. The other upside is that I get local, fresh, usually organically grown greens, and I dig supporting the local growers.

Anyone else like to seek out the farmers markets? Any memorable finds?

I have washboard abs. They are just hidden under 50#s of laundry.

Thats  one of the things we will miss most here in Iowa.  There is one south of Muscatine Iowa called Taylors and they always have the best produce.

I use Yelp to find them when I reach a new location.
I also use it to rate them after a visit.
There are good ones almost everywhere these days, thank dog.

Best Farmer's Market ever: Portland, Oregon

Best Farmer's Market for people watching: Burlington, VT

Biggest surprise Farmer's Market: Fort Pierce, Florida. Who wouldda thought?!

State with the most unimpressive Farmer's Markets; Colorado. You'd figure otherwise, right?

I always use Local Harvest.org to find them.

We always hit up the local farmer's markets - some even have them mid-week with music too!

Charlottesville, VA had a really great one. Vermont is basically one big farmers' market - produce is for sale on tables at the end of every third driveway in addition to the official markets.
