Boondocking in CO: Where to Go?

Hey there, Jim and I are in Salida now, at the AK Headwaters State Park. It's pretty here...pretty darn expensive! $20 a night w/out hookups! And it's busy. We want to boondock this week, but don't know where. Forest Service cg's are closed, but I'm guessing there's gotta be somewhere we can camp.

Here's some places we want to boondock without a $20 price tag:

Off Hwy 285 between Buena Vista and South Park

Off Hwy 50 between Salida and Montrose

Off Hwy 550 between Montrose and Durango

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Wow - that is pretty redonkulous. Landa RV in Texas was $7/night with 50A service :)

Don't know the area at all. Wished I could help, but I feel your pain.
