I could really use a suggestion for a good sewer slinky as there are many to choose from. Plus I'd found a couple that use either an electric or water macerator. Are thses even worth the extra cost?

Thanks
Steve

I have been using the RV SaniCon for almost four years now, and hope to never have to do without it again! I have had a few technical issues with it, but have been able to fix them all myself without issue.

The major advantages to the macerator to me are that I don't have to store sections of stinky slinky, I can pump up hill if needed, and I don't need to store and use the plastic expanding leveling system that makes the slinky slope properly to the sewer.

I used the normal setup for several years in our other RVs and am happy to now be a macerator user. When we were in Florida last, I had to pump my tanks almost 100 feet to a septic tank. Worked great!

The disadvantage is that it is a little slower than a regular system. If you are in line at a dump station, it can take a little longer. That usually never affects me, but did when we were in Quartzsite. I could have purchased a short length of slinky, but wasn't worth the hassle of storing it.

If you do buy another stinky slinky, get the best quality possible. I think there is a Rino Tube or something like that. I have heard good things about those. Also, make sure it has good connections, and you can expand the system. I have seen sewer connections 25+ feet from the RV!

We have the Rhino.  While I'd like to have the macerator as well, the Rhino isn't bad.  It's pretty solid, colapses fairly nicely and doesn't collect "remnants" as long as you have enough gray water to flush out the black.  I'd buy another, but I doubt I'll ever have to replace the one I have.

But... there is one big drawback!  The fittings are "beefy" compared to regular drain hoses.  We have a "sewer hose compartment" on our rig, but there's no way that the Rhino will fit in it.  I imagine the same applies to just about any "tube" storage for drain hoses.  Expect to be fitting this thing in a bay somewhere.  The advantage is that it rinses clean easily and has seals on each end. ;)

I've yet to do it myself, but...
5" square PVC fence post is alleged to work well for hoses
and there are lots of accessories to work with too.

My Rhinoflex arrived over the weekend which I scored for $26 online. I have yet to see if I can squeeze mine into the bumper, and I mean without getting anything on my hands after using it.

Forgive me. I think was the most disturbing sentence I've written, ever, in my life.

I decided against spending the extra $$$ for a macerator since I've got so many other upgrade costs to consider (solar panels etc). If this job holds out and I get everything else I want I may circle back and try to get one installed.

Good call on the Rhino. I have heard good things.

I wouldn't have the macerator if my RV hadn't come with one. It was one of those fortunate upgrades that worked out well. Now I am a bit spoiled though, and hope that it never goes out :)

Have fun with your new stinky slinky!!
