Any suggestions for nice campgrounds in this part of New York (Catskills/Hudson River Vally)? ...nice and cheap? ..thinking about staying a week.

Surprised there are no responses.
Perhaps the issue is the qualifying term of "good" that you used?  ;)

I was last up that way in 06 but not in an RV but I got the impression that the "open to the public" facilities up there (parks or CG's) all get used real hard with weekend warrior families squeezing every bit of fun they can into their few days off.

No no. I was born on the east coast but left it when I was 6. I've been back a few times to stay with family but they're not the camping types. As a result I have no knowledge of where all the good places are to stay there. I usually say nothing when I don't know because saying "I don't know" is an aggravating answer to me.
I void warranties.

ah, well it'll be during the week, so I think a state park will be the way to go. I don't think their parks have hookups, but that should be fine for a few nights.
