So if I was to use a school bus for a motorhome is there alot of campgrounds that will not allow them? I have looked at some campground webs but have not seen anything on age-color etc of RVS

any help would be great.

Thanks

Some of the more resort style RV Parks do reject older rigs, and I have seen RV Parks that specifically reject school bus conversions.  They're mostly the higher end commercial RV Parks, however - plenty of other choices for public campgrounds.

I think that if you're into skoolies, you probably won't be interested in going to the kind of parks that ban them. The places where we've seen RVs older than 10 years banned from tend to be old fart parks in AZ and SoCal, as well as tourist destinations near national parks.

Bleech! Who wants to go there anyways?

Skoolies rock!

Ha.. thats Good to know. Those kinda parks get me out of my comfort zone. lol.  We just wanted to make sure we could get into some parks with pools  and close to a beach with them if we go with the schoolie.

Thanks

I have seen a lot of camper age and type bans along the East coast in campgrounds that attract those of us who tend to stay a full winter or summer season. And, I actually ran into age and type restrictions in Hilton Head, SC that basically state 'if you haven't money enough to buy a Prevost or Monarch, we don't want you.' It seemed a trifle extreme to me. But others I have talked with are seeing this trend increasing exponentially as the economy continues its struggles and more of us turn to RV's as a permanent domicilary choice. I suggest you paint your school bus conversion the way you want it to appear and simply go where you are welcome.

Thankfully though, most CG's and other places aren't so obviously intolerant of "other" approaches to how lives are lived.

You are invading their Wonder Bread world.  say la vee.

The issue is how far out from stockish Class A form you are.
That applies to the overall gestalt of the project which also includes your attitude to your design choices.

Is it about being "in your face" thing or just a we'll get to that next year?
Is it different merely for the safe of being different?

A bare but functional and safe chassis (the only suitable foundation to build on) adapted to have all the ordinary RV "stuff" (waste and water tanks, pumps, valves plumbing kitchen sink full bathroom functions and a hot water heater...  and thats just the water

The materials alone (even at salvage) that will "coordinate" into a good design (including appearance Apple fans) are gonna cost some bucks; plus that chassis!

An old Lyle Lovett song line has Francine Reed bluesing... you make all that money man... make damned sure it shows...

Fit and finish, trim, social camouflage... call it anything you like...
it's money and effort well spent.
