Ang and I went to San Antonio last Saturday and had a blast. Check out some pictures here. We started out at the Alamo, and it ended up being the 173rd anniversary of the beginning of the battle. There were a ton of people, plus a re-enactment of the battle out front. Cool stuff.

We left there and walked down to Riverwalk and had some lunch, and of course a few cocktails. We then walked around downtown at street level and found some cool places, and met some great people. Mitchell was our favorite tho   He was a great bartender at a cool little bar - don't remember the name of the bar tho. hahah. Must have been a GREAT bar!!

I have washboard abs. They are just hidden under 50#s of laundry.

San Antonio is a great place. Half of my family lives out there, so I grew up going but not usually doing the tourist stuff. The Riverwalk is beautiful by day but especially at night.

The thing that has always been of note in SA, to me, is the food. Go to a Mexican bakery and get the sweet bread or pan dulce. Oh, and have a breakfast taco, too. Eggs with chorizo and potatoes. Yum!

Holy Cow Kev .. had I known you were here it would've been nice to have met (even if only briefly). Although I was gone to Buda most of Saturday to do a visual inspection of my trailer so I probably would've missed you anyways.

Btw, have either of you (Kev and Monica) been to Big Bend? I haven't had the time or money to go yet, but plan to very soon in the new rig.

Because you don't need to own the universe, just see it. Have the privilege of seeing the whole of time and space. That's ownership enough.

I spent over a decade living in San Antonio, so if you ever need tips about where to go or what to do, I'm happy to help out.  One place that is pretty far off most tourists' radar but is worth the visit if you enjoy kitschy roadside attractions is Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Art Museum. One retired plumber with a sense of whimsy has converted his garage into a permanent exhibition.  Go, you won't be sorry.
