Being parked out in the middle of nowhere is cool, but does present its challenges. We are at Nature's Coast RV in Steinhatchee, FL, right now, and we love it. They have a killer Wifi connection, the owners are great, and the location is beautiful. The only problem is that the cell phone reception sucks.
Ang and I had this problem when we stayed at Ft. Desoto as well. The signal was there, but because of all the trees, we had a very diminished signal. Figuring that a) I need my cell phone for work, and b) this won't be the last time this happens, I decided to do something about the problem.
Before we started fulltiming, I had ordered some cell booster equipment from MaximumSignal.net, and was very happy with it. Problem with the equipment I have is that I messed up the amplifier, and the antenna can only connect to one phone/air card at a time.
So, I bit the bullet and bought the "IVWA819 / Cascade RV- Single Room - Tour Coach Package". The package comes with an antenna, amplifier, internal antenna, and cables. I ordered it on Tuesday and received it Thursday morning, with standard shipping.
I did a temporary install to see if it worked, and was most impressed. My crappy phone originally showed no bars, and would cut out during conversations. Angie's phone showed one bar, and sounded a little better. After hooking everything up, my reception went up to 2-3 bars, and Angie's phone shows 4-5! The people I called said I sounded 10 times better than I did before.
This setup sends out a wireless signal boost that can handle up to eight phones/air cards at a time. With our two cell phones and two air cards, I figure we still have plenty of boost to share with neighbors
Overall ordering experience was an A+. The owner of MaximumSignal actually called me to make sure I was ordering the best setup for our needs. He ships 2-day Priority as his standard shipping, everything was there as promised, and the instructions were clear and simple to follow. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends.
So, Kev is happy. I have new goodies, and I expect that they will come in handy for many upcoming adventures.
