I just found NuRVers.com a few days ago while on Good Sam Club's forum.  My husband and I are prepping for departure from Northern Michigan winters within the next few weeks and hitting the road in our Lance camper with our 107lb American Bulldog Odin.  (Yes, it will be cozy)  :)

Right now I'm trying to focus on lightening our load at home (while maintaining some sanity) to allow us to shed a lot of the material possessions we no longer need/want so we can thoroughly enjoy our adventures this winter while traveling from job site to job site doing long term forest managment for private land owners.

This will be the first full winter away (we've traveled the South and South West fairly extensively in previous years) so I'm excited to have found this site, (and your Facebook group) and look forward to getting to know other fulltimers with a similar mindset.

Hi Susan - and welcome to the site! We are glad you found us too :)

Did you happen to find us via that rediculous "Carbon Footprint" forum thread? I tried to thinly veil my frustration with the old people's "we have plenty of resources - the hippies are lying to us" attitude. From that forum - and frustration with that old mindset - is how this site really got going! We needed a safe haven for the freaks to hang out :)

Technomadia recently posted a blog about lightening the load. It is posted on the home page in the News articles. That might help with your current task. Or, you can always consider lighter fluid and a book of matches :)

Good luck with your preparations - looking forward to meeting up with the three of you on the road!

I have washboard abs. They are just hidden under 50#s of laundry.

Ha!  No, it was a different thread on Good Sam.  :)

I actually had just found, and read Technomadia's article and visted their site, read some posts, and shared the site with friends.  Great site, btw.

I also just posted a classified on here for my Jeep in case anyone is looking for a sweet towable vehicle.  2007 Jeep Wranger Unlimited 4x4; makes an awesome TV, but we won't need her with our current set-up and I hat to stick her in storage somewhere. Currently listed on Ebay, set to end tomorrow night.

And now to call the vet to get a 5 month supply of Odin's anti-seizure meds and a new dog tag with our cell phone numbers listed on it.

It seems like my list of things to do is endless. I'm glad I've had access to these forums to remind me about the little things I might be overlooking.  :)

Welcome to the site!  Good luck with the preparations.  My husband and I just hit the road this past June and the planning, reducing our load, and final preparations were hectic but totally worth it! Love our new small home and traveling around this great country.  Enjoy! Look forward to hearing about your travels.

Sorry greenies, I'm keeping my Unlimited... I've got have at least one toy I can take with me. :)

Sound like you have a really cool job that fits in with the travel very nicely.  I'm a little jealous. :S
