Thanks for all the feedback all.  We're enroute now.  We take on some pretty intense gigs that usually have us working 7 days a week / 12-15 hrs a day for 4-6 weeks at a time (and thrive on it !).  But this will be the first time that we're working under intense supervision and involving a good deal of physical labor and not involving a good bit of online work.

I'm trying to adjust mentally before I get there to roll with the punches, and look at is an experience. :)  My preference for hours is mostly over weekends / night shift - so that I can support my 'day job' during the week.  The folks at Express told us that's the easiest request to fulfill, as no one typically wants those hours anyway. *crossing fingers* we can get that and they put us on the same hours (we also have different last names.)

We're aiming to arrive on Wednesday.. I think we'll check out Walter Johnson Park first to see if we can snag a spot - would be nice to minimize the commute.

We'll keep an eye out for a spot for you.  We had no trouble getting the same shift, and our names don't match.  Reminding Express that we only have one vehicle between us and so if we're on different shifts, one of us can't work, seems to have helped.  ;)

We'll be at work Wednesday-Saturday, but do let us know when you arrive.

I would have LOVED to be in picking mostly to try and lose some weight...if anyone ever needs to bum a ride I drive over MTWF day shift/6:30am and pick up same days at 5:00pm...we have an Avalanche so there would be room for at least 1 more. Wonder if it would be ok to post my cell on here so you could call in a pinch?

We have arrived!  Drove around Walter Johnson.. between the mud, the construction/traffic, crammed in units and the only available space right smack in the middle of everything - we opted for Elk City State Park.  Oh my goodness is it lovely out here.  We have about a 1/2 acre creekside all to ourselves :)   We're also camped near another owner of one of our rare little Oliver trailers who is working at Amazon.   The little extra drive will hopefully be worth it.

Looks like we'll have a donut night shift Sun-Tue & Thur.  Should work for me!

Looking forward to catching up with everyone.. maybe we should find a time when we're not all working and have a NuRVer's meetup? :)

We're only about to start our third day..  but I will say so far - everyone we've encountered: other full timer RVers, the Express Pro folks and the amazon.com employees have all been completely awesome.  Everyone in our department (sortable singles shipping) is extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful. We'll see if that keeps up or not.  And seeing the entire process is pretty darn fascinating.

The work isn't mentally challenging by any means, and is very physical. I'm sore for packing 120 boxes per hour for 10 hrs straight.  Very much looking forward to our first day off tomorrow - and haven't decided yet if we'll work our scheduled shift on T-day (we were told it's totally ok to call in sick if we don't want to work it).

Aside from there being no company hot tub to soak in or an on staff massage therapist..   no complaints. Everything is as expected, and from other accounts of horror stories - I'd even say it exceeds expectations. (But sorry Kev, there are no happy elves playing Segway polo as they fetch DVDs).

Cherie

I'm so glad to hear it's going well for you! Hopefully no one else has my bad luck with them...
