Is anyone going to be working in Coffeyville KS at Amazon.com for the Christmas rush? We will be leaving Wisconsin on Oct 15 and taking a detour through the Black Hills and then down there to start work on Nov 8..just wondering if anyone will be there sooner and would like to let us know the campground situation...

We're not headed in that direction, but that sounds like an interesting gig. Good luck!

Funny you mention that, because we're looking for a temporary winter gig. How'd you hear about it? I've heard of the Amazon / Kansas connection before but have never seen their advertisements for that gig.

We drove through there last year. The facility seemed to be out in the boonies, but I hear the town is cool enough. There was a big discussion on Escapees.com last year about it. They have such a great idea with hiring workampers for the season. Sounded like last year there were some issues that the crapola economy brought up (not as many hired as originally thought), and there were some discussions on the campgrounds (filling up if I recall), but other than that, seemed that everyone that had a gig there loved it.

Too cold for me, but since I have a gig, I was thinking of putting Ang to work. She would just have her checks deposited against her Amazon account - she loves that place :)

I have washboard abs. They are just hidden under 50#s of laundry.

You're right Kev...not warm enough at all but I can handle it from Nov 8 to Dec 23...we are cheeseheads after all! And then off to Laughlin for the New Year and then maybe Quartszite...my husband has a countertop business and we are trying to find him work repairing and sanding out the scratches etc in the solid surface countertops or installing new countertops in rigs.

Wow - that's cool! I made up some signs for my waterless car wash product that we sell and hang them in the windows. They are temporary enough so that if anyone has a problem with them, I can remove them. Haven't had a problem yet.

With some signage, you will get a lot of people asking about it. We met a guy in Florida that did window shades, and his business was booming. He would go to a park for a month or so, do his thing, then move along. Nice guy and it seemed that he did well with that.

You guys may be able to do the same if you have everything you need with you. Consider going to rallies as well. You would be able to sign people up while you dude handles the repairs. Could work well!

Viajo--I mistakenly assumed that Amazon had filled all of the jobs in Kansas when I read your first email.  Following the link, we applied and it looks like we may be headed that way in November as well.

Well, it seems to be an easy enough application system, so we are scheduled to head to Kansas at the beginning of November!  Thanks, Viajo, for the info!
