The other day, I used credit card statements to light the fire over which we cooked our dinner.  It didn't make the debt go away, of course, but there was something curiously freeing about it that should go on a list of Things to Do.

Brilliant! What a great idea. We recently bought a shredder because we are not so much into the campfire thing, but your suggestion makes it sound fun.

So did your food have any lingering taste of debt? A smooth finish of high interest rates?

I have washboard abs. They are just hidden under 50#s of laundry.

I find that it's best to be sure that the statements themselves are burned entirely away, so that the food can cook over the smoldering ashes.  This lets the sour taste of bad financial decisions and unexpected expenses burn off, and allows a hint of the hopes originally contained within the debt to be imparted to the meat.

Wow.. I've been digital so long, that I can't recall the last time I physically saw a statement :)

Another great way to achieve this sense of freedom is leaving them on the temple at Burning Man, and then watching them go up with 50,000 other people's things they're releasing.

Just saying :)  Still time to make it for the burn in a little over a week.  *poke* *poke*

We've been digital for over 2 years, and there are four companies (who shall remain nameless) who insist on continuing to send us statements, "paperless" selection be damned.

Still time to make it for the burn in a little over a week.

We can't move the RV right now! The floor's torn up and I haven't had a chance to road-test the transmission since it puked all of its fluid.  (the former is because we're redoing the carpet; the latter is a long story)  But maybe we can mail you a box of things to be released.  ;)
