After updating our location on the map from My Account, the geomap does not display when the Map page is viewed in Firefox on Mac OS X. And don't tell me "it's a Mac Thing. "

Its not a Mac thing, the map just doesn't like you

Paste in what you put in the map fields. There are a few fields - lon, lat, zip, and named location. The map likes lon and lat, sometimes does not like zip (like when you are in EiEiO), and does nothing with the named location other than show it as "where you are" when you click on the balloon.

Ah - found the problem. Remove the "W" from your location (lon/lat) and it should work fine.

Wow - just found out that bonks out the large map too. I will add some code to make sure that gets stripped out on future submissions.

Thanks for letting me know!

I added some code to the large map and the profile map to strip out any letters, and it looks like it will work fine now. I think I may need to do a syntax check on all of those numbers to make sure they fit the format, otherwise it may be easy for one user to blow out the big map for everyone.

Thanks again for bringing that to my attention!!

Some wee minor issues with the site
  • I can't get my orginal goofy looking thumb-nail pic to go away. (its not a cache issue)

  • when I paste in stuff with apostrophes in it its makes funky characters (even if its just unformated text from notepad errr something).

Dang - no rest for the wicked!! I will look into both of these when I get some place normal. I think I know the issue with the thumbnail, but will have to check into it. The odd characters are a problem. I hate those. It is Microsoft characters that don't really have a normal conversion, and the editor chokes on them. I will see if there is some replacing I can do to fix that up.

Thanks for pointing those out!!

Why can't I edit an article once I submit it to the News section? I mean come on ... who runs this site anyway!?!? ;-)

Everytime I sign in, I have to open a new tab to actually see anything? I just get a blank page after log in...what am I doing wrong?

I will take a look at that. I am sure you are doing nothing wrong - something is freaking out on this side of things.
